George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Giorgio Armani

This year's ball was hosted by George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Anna Wintour. Traditionally, each fashion designer walks the red carpet with the celebrity they have dressed for the gala, show-casing their most spectacular gowns on the ultimate models. Giorgio Armani was the most popular man of the night, totting up a score of 21 stars who chose to wear his designs. Hosts Julia Roberts and Gorgeous George both wore Armani, as did Clooney's girlfriend, Sarah Larson. Roberts admitted she'd been up since five am, but was excited for the gala: "It's my first time here!" she said.
